We are currently seeking a Volunteer Podcast Editor to join our Alopecia’s Audacity Podcast Team. As the CANAAF Podcast Editor, your technical expertise will help to spread awareness and extend our reach to families across Canada so we can provide essential support to individuals on their alopecia journey. Join us to be a key part in the growth and quality of our podcast!
About the Podcast:
Alopecia’s Audacity is a podcast that focuses on the topic of Alopecia Areata, an autoimmune disease characterized by the loss of hair on the scalp and other parts of the body. The podcast is hosted by the Canadian Alopecia Areata Foundation (CANAAF), a registered charity that aims to raise awareness and provide support to individuals who are affected by alopecia by sharing stories, experiences, and information from experts in the field. With its bold and daring approach, the podcast encourages listeners to embrace their unique journey with alopecia and to be proud of who they are. Join co-hosts and alopecia advocates, Christal Malcolm, Lauryn Harrison, and Sara Teskey as they delve into the complexities of living with hair loss and explore what it means to defy the audacity of alopecia.
Commitment:
- Approx. 10 hours per month including regular check-in meetings with Podcast Team
- Please commit to at least one year of consistent volunteering
- Fully remote, within Canada
As the Podcast Editor, you will:
- Be responsible for assisting with editing episodes for Alopecia’s Audacity, CANAAF’s Podcast
- Edit raw .wav files by splicing, editing, adjusting audio with certain audio enhancements, add music, video, voice intro and outro, export as .mp3 and upload to the server
- Collaborate with the Podcast team
Qualifications and Skills:
- At least 60 hours experience with audio editing, including edits, splicing, mixing and enhancements
- Strong attention to detail in regards to audio editing
- Ability to work independently with direction from the Podcast team
- Strong digital organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills, especially in setting goals and meeting deadlines
Nice to have:
- Proficiency in French, as we are a national organization
- Experience with video editing software
- Experience with uploading to YouTube and RSS.com
